Reducing Emissions in a World of Growing Natural Gas Demand
Every October, the EEMDL Annual Event brings together hundreds of professionals from academia, industry, government and civil society who are working to reduce fugitive methane and other emissions from global energy supply chains.
Held on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin, this event has become the peak scientific gathering for methane measurement and emissions reduction professionals in North America.
EEMDL 2026 will focus on U.S. and international efforts to collect actionable data on emissions – including greenhouse gases and emissions that impact local and regional air quality – and the role of peer-reviewed scientific research in developing trusted protocols for emissions reporting and verification.
Attendees will participate in crucial dialogues and help shape the future of methane measurement, emissions reduction, and energy waste prevention across global oil and natural gas supply chains.
As the world continues to grapple with energy supply shocks, rising demand from AI data centers and other large energy users, and the effects of climate change, EEMDL 2026 will provide three days of in-depth examination and collaboration on solutions to these connected challenges:

Navigating the evolving landscape of regulatory and voluntary reporting frameworks at the state and federal level for methane and other greenhouse gas emissions.
Domestic and Global Demand for Low-Emission Gas:
Exploring demand trends in the differentiated natural gas market, data center growth, LNG exports, and more – including the latest developments on the European Union Methane Regulation.
Measurements to Reporting to Mitigation:
Integrating measurement data across multiple scales and technologies – from ground-level monitors to aerial surveys to satellite sensors – in order to locate, quantify, and reduce emissions at their source.
Pre-Event Workshops
Immediately prior to the EEMDL 2026 Annual Event, join our team of scientists and policy experts for a series of in-depth technical workshops.
Topics will include mapping domestic natural gas supply chains; developing measurement-informed emissions inventories; the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 and how continuous monitoring systems can support reporting requirements; and how to interpret test results for different emissions reduction solutions.
Past Event Highlights
Since it was founded in 2023, the EEMDL Annual Event has attracted hundreds of experts, decisionmakers and stakeholders in the field of energy and emissions management, from the U.S. and abroad.
Participants at EEMDL’s past events have included senior executives from the natural gas sector; officials with the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. State Department; international representatives from the European Union and the UN Environment Program; and leading academics, technology vendors, industry officials and non-profit organizations.
