Artificial intelligence is reshaping how clients, colleagues, and communities access information, make decisions, and experience care. Whether you are an enthusiastic user, a cautious skeptic, or have intentionally avoided AI, this timely workshop will help you develop the ethical awareness to respond with confidence. Facilitated by Mary Beer, LCSW-S, Assistant Dean for the Office of Practicum Education and clinical faculty member at The University of Texas School of Social Work, this practical discussion—not technical training—will examine AI’s opportunities, risks, and professional responsibilities and consider its implications for client care, clinical judgment, service delivery, and the future of the profession.

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

· Differentiate between AI literacy and AI use, and describe why AI literacy is relevant to ethical mental health practice regardless of personal use.

· Evaluate the potential benefits, limitations, and ethical considerations of artificial intelligence through the lens of professional ethical standards and broader ethical decision-making frameworks.

· Apply AI literacy concepts to mental health practice by identifying at least two ways artificial intelligence may influence client care, professional relationships, service delivery, or clinical decision-making.
