· Constituent materials used in concrete bridge elements
· How to select appropriate mixture proportions
· Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs), including alternative SCMs.
· Key durability issues that can affect various bridge components
· Underlying causes of potential deterioration
· How to minimize or avoid durability—related issues during the intended service life of a bridge
· How to minimize concrete cracking, especially concrete bridge decks.
· Current industry trends
The course will include a group project where teams will design the concrete mixture for a bridge designed for a 100– year service life in an aggressive marine environment.
There will also be a tour of the concrete materials laboratory and the outdoor exposure sites (The Cementary).

Cost
Attendance Fee: $1,800
Members of ASBI, PCI, or PTI will receive a 50% discount, for a rate of $900.
Members of an NCBC Organization will receive a 15% discount, for a rate of $1,530.
Pooled fund members will attend free until the sponsorship agreement has been met.
Registration for non-pooled fund members will open approximately two months prior to the event.
Refunds will be issued for cancelled registrations, with a $50 cancellation fee deducted from the attendance fee.
Time
Training on both days is from 8:00-5:00pm CDT.
Doors will open both days at 7:30 for check-in and coffee.

Professional Development Credits
Participants will receive a certificate of completion for the class for 14 Professional Development Hours (PDHs).
CBEI has met the standards and requirements of the Registered Continuing Education Program. Credit earned on completion of this program will be reported to RCEP at RCEP.net. A certificate of completion will be issued to each participant. As such, it does not include content that may be deemed or construed to be an approval or endorsement by the RCEP.

CBEI is located in Building 177 adjacent to the Ferguson Structural Engineering Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin’s J.J. Pickle Research Center in North Austin. Building 177 houses the administrative offices and conference rooms for CBEI and the Ferguson Structural Engineering Laboratory. Parking is adjacent to the building.

We recommend the following hotels based on their proximity to CBEI and restaurants/shops:

Many hotels at the Domain are within walking distance to restaurants/shops.
Transportation
Participants will need to arrange their own transportation to and from the training site. The University of Texas at Austin requires a parking pass to be displayed at all times so if you bring a vehicle, a pass will be provided to you during check-in at the training.
Additional Information
PPE will not be required in Building 177 but is required in The Ferguson Structural Engineering Laboratory and at the outdoor Concrete Bride Component Collection (The Cementary) and the Concrete Materials Laboratory. PPE will be provided for you while visiting these locations. Attendees will be handling small samples of fresh concrete and will be in an active laboratory. Dress accordingly in typical jobsite attire: long pants, closed toed shoes, and a short or long sleeved shirt.
