The Risus Quartet

The Risus Quartet, founded in 2020 by four Seoul National University graduates devoted to chamber music, is dedicated to bringing joy and vitality to audiences worldwide. Prizewinners at major international competitions—including the Grand Prize and Gold Medal at the 2021 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, First Prize at the 2022 Chamber Music in Yellow Springs Competition, the City of Portsmouth Prize at the 2022 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, 3rd Prize and the Commissioned Piece Prize at the 2023 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, as well as Finalist of Concert Artists Guild and Semi-finalist at the 2022 ARD International Music Competition—the quartet earned the Artist Diploma (AD) as the Young Professional String Quartet in residence at the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin, studying with the Miró Quartet.
